Troop Campout - - Deer Creek State Park

Bishop Steve Rife came along with his son Tyler and other members of the troop. He taught about Dutch Oven cooking by involving the troop in the preparation of two delicious meals: a dinner of barbequed rib, garlic potatoes, carrots, and peach / berry cobbler, and a chuckwagon breakfast. Friday evening all discussed President Uchtdork's talk from the recent Priesthood Session of General Conference. In the morning Bishop Rife taught about choices we make and needing to avoid the appearance of evil. Scouts all completed 1 night of camping that will go towards rank advancement and the camping merit badge. Two scouts satisfied Second Class requirements 2.e (discussing cooking with fire and a light weight stove), and made progress toward 2.g and 3.

Photos and videos from the campout are available at the Troop 797 Photo Album at troop797.net.

Brother Dan Williams helped shop for the food for the meals during the camp, and Sister Rae Eatough helped us get our tour permit - - many thanks to them.

Scouts in attendance: Stephan Dartiguenave, Zac Jarman, and Tyler Rife.
