Campout Report (given at Grandview Ninth Ward Priesthood Meeting opening exercises by Tyler Rife on Sunday, September 27, 2009)
WHEN:
Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26
WHERE:
Camp Maple Dell
WHO:
Matt Housley, Morgan Hunter, Tyler Rife, Creed Rollins
Greg Jones and Taylor Cline
WHAT:
Fort Utah District Fall Camporee (there were many other troops there)
WHY (what did we accomplish?)
Ate a dutch oven dinner
Performed a skit at the campfire program
Attended an astronomy presentation
Attended an early morning sunrise service
Participated in a flag ceremony and various activities (juggling, bottle rockets, whale harpooning, fire building, rifle range)
Learned about the Mormon Battalion and handcart pioneers
Won a watermelon
Won a “Hanging In” ward (which will pay for some new troop equipment)
